Munnar is situated at a height of 6000 ft in the southwestern ghats of India. Tourist Places Of Munnar can be explored from 4 directions. Coimbatore direction, Cochin direction, Thekkady direction, and Madupatty direction. If you are coming from Cochin then you can explore the places on the way. Munnar is easily accessible from Cochin and from Coimbatore.

I was lucky to witness the charming beauty of Munnar. The exotic tea plantation, greeneries, waterfalls, the streams make Munnar the ideal holiday destination of Kerala, India. Tourist Places Of Munnar will mesmerize a lonely traveler with its unparallel beauty. 

We went to Munnar from Cochin. Cochin is well connected with other parts of India as well as abroad by air, train, and road. After landing at the Cochin International airport we hired a cab and go straight to the hotel. The next day we visited the best tourist places in Cochin(Kochi). 
The next day we started for the wonderful way to Munnar. Munnar is situated in the Idduki district of Kerala. It will take 3-4 hours to reach Munnar from Cochin.

1.Cheriyappa Waterfall

If you are planning to go to Munnar from Cochin then you will be enchanted with this beautiful waterfall. This waterfall is 42 km away from Munnar. The Cheriyappa waterfall in on Kochi-
Madurai highway ( NH 49).
You can stop here for 15-20 minutes and refresh yourself with coconut water. Otherwise, you can take a break and have some snacks. But do not forget to click awesome pictures. The water here cascades down in 7 steps.

2.Photo point

Photo Point is a popular destination situated about 3 km away from the town of Munnar on the way to Mattupetty. The surrounded place with woods, small rivulets, and the curving hill makes a heaven spot, especially for the photographers. You must take a photo with this beautiful backdrop.

This place offers you the serene beauty of nature. You can spend half an hour just sitting on a bench in the lap of the jungle. Here are some local shops that offer you handmade chocolates, soaps, handicrafts, and candies. Don't forget to collect them.

3.Elephant Arrival Spot

Munnar has lush green meadows, ideal habitat for elephants. This place is located 15 km distant from Munnar. This large meadow on the highway towards Top station is a must-visit place if you are an animal lover. You can enjoy an elephant ride under the supervision of Mahouts. You can feed them. But you can also watch such places in Thekkady.

4.Tea Museum

Munnar has a beautiful tea plantation from the last century. If you want to know more about the tea industry TATA tea museum is a must-visit. It is only 2 km away from Munnar. This is open from 9 am to 4 pm all day except Monday.
You can know about tea plucking, processing, and packaging. Here you can also taste different tea in the big hall. Collect tea as a souvenir.

5.Madupatty Dam

Madupatty dam is located about 11 km distant from Munnar(center of the town). The water reservoir and the dairy farm is an Indo-Swiss project. It is one of the major attractions among tourist places of Munnar.

Different species of cattle, Asiatic elephants come to this place in search of food and water. This is also the main source of hydroelectricity. Due to the huge water and plant availability a huge range of flora and fauna are available in the vicinity of this dam.

6.Kundala Lake

This beautiful artificial lake is situated around 25 km away from Munnar. This lake along with the Kundala dam is a heaven for honeymooners. The couple may go on the shikhara ride in the tranquil water of the lake. The blue water of the lake with the backdrop of hills, mountains, and lush green mountain makes your holiday experience richer than ever.

Cherry blossoms flowers and other flowers bloom in the vicinity of this lake. The place is also the homeland of the world-famous Neelakurinji flower which blooms only once in twelve years. It came in 2018.

7.Shooting Point

This place came under the limelight due to the famous film "Chennai Express". This was the shooting place of the song  "Kashmir to Kanyakumari" and the film. When you come to this point, you have to take a tourist jeep to go to the exact location of the shooting place. 8.Echo Point

The Echo point is based amidst three close mountains Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundala.The picturesque lake situated in the echo point which makes the view highly captivating.

Placed at an altitude of about 600 ft, Echo Point is located 15 km away from Munnar, on the way to Top Station. Echo point, The beautiful lake where you can hear the echoes of the names of your loved ones. My little daughter was delighted to hear her name by nature.

9.Blossom Park

The Blossom international park is one of the major attractions among the tourist places of Munnar. It has rare and exotic varieties of flowers that you can't imagine. It has lots of varieties of roses, orchids, Angelia, and many more. You will have to pay the entry fee and the place is open from 9 am to 5 pm. This place is ideal for a nature walk, boating, and bird watching.

10.Top Station

This is the highest point(1700 m) with a railway station, that is why it is named Top station. It is 33 km away from Munnar. During the historic times, it served as a tea carrying point from Munnar and the nearby Madupatty region. It is heaven for the trekkers.
